Is the iPhone 6 too old?

iOS updates: how much longer for iPhone 6s, 7 and 8?

An advantage of Apple over Android is the long-term supply of current operating system versions. For example, the five-year-old iPhone 6s runs with the new iOS version. But how long will iPhone 6s and Co. be supplied with updates?

Neither Apple nor other manufacturers provide precise information about the supply of the operating system. While many Android devices no longer have OS updates apart from security updates after two to three years, Apple owners can benefit from the new operating system features for a longer period of time.

How long will there still be updates for iPhone 6s and Co.?

As a rule, Apple smartphones are round four to five years supplied with the latest iOS update for a long time. The new version appears with the presentation of the new iPhone series in September. During the last update to iOS 13, the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 were deleted from the update list after six years. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, however, have received the update to iOS 13.

If you go according to the tried and tested rhythm, the two devices mentioned are the next to be threatened with the end of support. Nevertheless, there is hope for owners of these Apple devices from 2015. The French Apple experts from iPhonesoft state that all iPhones that run iOS 13 will also be supplied with iOS 14. However, it could be that some functions are no longer supported by the older Apple devices.

With a new iPhone you don't have to worry about a support cut for a long time:
