Who is looking forward to the 2020 Jeep Gladiator

Jeep Gladiator (2021): That's what the pick-up costs from us

With the new Jeep Gladiator, the brand's first pickup for almost three decades can now be ordered from Jeep dealers. The new Gladiator builds on the rich tradition of robust, reliable jeep trucks: It all started back in 1947 with the one-ton jeep truck from Willys Overland based on the CJ-2A.

This was followed over a period of four decades by the FC-150/170 (1957-1965) pickup models, the Jeep Gladiator based on the J-series (1963-1987), the CJ-8 Scrambler (1981-1985) and the Jeep Comanche (1986-1992) based on the Cherokee XJ.

The Gladiator is based on the iconic Jeep Wrangler and has its off-road capabilities. In addition, the Gladiator has a 153 centimeter long loading area. Click here for the driving report.

In Germany, the Jeep Gladiator is available in the equipment variants Sport and Overland, 80th Anniversary and during the market launch phase as a limited launch edition. The color palette includes Black, Firecracker Red, Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Granite Crystal Metallic, Hydro Blue, Sting-Gray, Snazzberry and Sarge Green.

Depending on the equipment version, in combination with a soft top and an additional black hard top on request or with a hard top painted in the vehicle color with an additional soft top on request. The sports equipment is on 17-inch wheels, while Overland, 80th Anniversary and Launch Edition have 18-inch wheels.

When developing the robust loading area, the focus was on functionality and flexibility. The loading area is illuminated, a weatherproof external power source (230 volts) available on request and strong integrated lashing eyes ensure durability and flexibility. The available "Trail Rail" loading management offers additional storage options.

The Jeep Gladiator offers a variety of configurations thanks to its fold-out windshield and the three-piece hard top and soft top options. The "Cargo Management Group" with a lockable storage compartment under the seats enables cargo to be organized in the passenger cabin as well. A protective, non-slip coating and various covers are available for the loading area.

The interior of the Jeep Gladiator offers lockable storage compartments under the rear seats on request. On the optional fourth generation Uconnect infotainment system with a seven or 8.4 inch touchscreen and seven inch TFT display instrument cluster, the driver can configure the information displayed in more than 100 ways.

A front-facing camera in the middle of the front mask is part of the standard equipment of the Launch Edition (on request for the Sport, Overland and 80th Anniversary equipment levels), helpful for both off-road obstacles and when parking in the city. The self-cleaning function of the camera keeps the view clear even in extreme off-road conditions.

Other options include a Premium Alpine Audio System with nine speakers, a rear subwoofer, a 552 watt twelve-channel amplifier and a removable, portable, Bluetooth speaker, the battery of which is charged in its holder behind the rear seats while driving.

Its housing is weatherproof and dustproof, and also waterproof to a depth of 90 centimeters (up to 30 minutes). It can be linked to the music system of any Jeep Gladiator and, with its USB port, can also be used as a charging station for small electrical devices.

The 3.0 V6 MultiJet turbodiesel in the Gladiator has a stop-start system, 194 kW (264 hp) of power and 600 Newton meters of torque. The tried-and-tested eight-speed automatic transmission with torque converter optimizes drive performance for off-road driving as well as for smooth, efficient power delivery at motorway speeds.

The Jeep Gladiator offers the brand's legendary off-road capabilities thanks to the so-called Command-Trac 4x4 system with two-stage transfer case and off-road reduction of 2.72 as well as heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles with a ratio of 3.73. All equipment variants of the Gladiator have excellent approach angles and a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.

Safety and protection were paramount in the development of the Jeep Gladiator. It therefore offers a range of active and passive safety features such as the full LED headlights and taillights that are standard for all Gladiators, the ParkView reversing camera with dynamic guide grille, the front and rear parking assistant and electronic stability control (ESC) with roll stabilization .

The safety systems available on request include the blind spot warning system Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection, the front camera, the Forward Collision Warning Plus with automatic braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with stopping function and the automatic light / high beam.

The fourth generation of the Uconnect infotainment system has either a seven or 8.4 inch screen and integrates communication, entertainment and navigation functions. The Uconnect 8.4NAV offers user-friendly functions, high computing power, fast start times, a high-resolution touchscreen as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
