Who is the tallest sibling
A normal birth is an extreme experience for parents. Squeezing out a 3.5 kilo worm seems like a walk in comparison to some extreme birth stories and numbers.
Here are a few impressive records for having children:
The biggest baby in the world
No small thing: The heaviest newborn in the world to survive weighed 10.2 kilograms, according to the Guinness Book of Records. In 1955 the boy was born in Aversa, Italy. According to legend, the largest baby ever registered is said to have weighed over 11 kilos in 1879.
In the meantime there have been reports of children around the world who are said to have weighed around seven or eight kilos when they were born. The largest and heaviest baby in Germany to date was born naturally in 2013 in Leipzig. Little Jasleen weighed 6,110 grams and was 57.5 centimeters long.
Back in 2011, a boy, who weighed 6,080 grams, saw the light of day in Berlin. Jihad was even bigger at six inches. The longest baby in Germany to date was 62 centimeters and was born in 2016 in southern Hesse.
The smallest baby in the world
In contrast, the lightest baby in the world to date was downright tiny: in 2016, little Emilia was born in Witten in the 26th week - weighing only 229 grams, with a body length of 22 cm.
In 2004 a similarly small baby was born in Chicago, weighing just under 244 grams and 25 centimeters in length, little Rumaisa Rahman.
The youngest mother
The youngest mother in the world to date was only five years old. The girl Lina Medina from Peru gave birth to a healthy boy in 1939, whom she named Gerardo. Lina had hit puberty prematurely, a case of precocious puberty. It was never clarified who the child's father was. Lina's father was suspected of raping her for a long time.
The oldest mother
The Spaniard María del Carmen Bousada de Lara held the record for the world's oldest mother for a long time. In 2006, at the age of 66, she gave birth to twins Christian and Pau, who were born through in vitro fertilization. The Indian Rajo Devi is said to have been even older at the age of 70: with the help of egg donation and artificial insemination, she had a daughter in 2008.
Most of the children in total
This is an extended family: According to tradition and the Guinness Book, the Russian woman Vassilyev gave birth to 69 children in a total of 27 births between 1725 and 1765. 16 pairs of twins, seven triplets and four quadruplets.
Most children at one birth
Multiples are generally very rare. In 2009, Californian Nadya Suleman actually gave birth to healthy eightlings with the help of artificial insemination in the 30th week. She is now the mother of 14 children.
Births of nine and ten births have also been recorded, but not all babies survived here. In Germany, the record is six children in one fell swoop: In Berlin in 2008, sixlings were born, four girls and two boys.
The greatest age gap between siblings
These siblings could be grandma and grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Buttle gave birth to her daughter Belinda on May 19, 1956 and, an incredible 41 years and 185 days later, on November 20, 1997, her son Joseph. The mother was already 60 years old.

The Radfords: The 22nd baby of an extended British family is born
The fastest birth
According to various media reports, the 33-year-old Palak Vyvas from Isleworth, England, had the fastest birth to date. About two minutes after her water burst, daughter Vedika was born.
In 2015, the Australian Mary Gorgens gave birth to her son Brody in just two minutes.
The longest birth
It is known that there are a few minutes between the birth of twins. But in Cologne, twins were only recently born 97 days apart. Little Liana saw the light of day on November 17, 2018. Her twin sister Leonie, on the other hand, stayed in her mother's womb and was only born on February 22, 2019. Both children are healthy and well.
The shortest time interval between two births
Pregnant again: New Zealander Jayne Bleackley gave birth to her daughter Annie Jessica Joyce just 208 days after the birth of her son Joseph Rober. The girl came many weeks early.
The children of the Englishwoman Sadie Budden are also only 208 days apart. Only six and a half months after their son Ronnie, daughter Sienna came as a premature baby in her 26th week. (iwo)
